In the past year, as a student theoretical chemistry in Groningen, the Netherlands, I simulated laser experiments. We compared the simulated results with actual experiments and I was baffled by the problems experimentalists experienced. It triggered a wish to experience it myself. Up till now, it certainly is worth coming to Sweden.

My project focuses on the size of aggregates. This means I have to find ways to bettr control the aggregate sizes. The properties of the aggregates will be studied with Single Molecule Spectroscopy. One of the elements is to look at their polarization. These results wil be compared with earlier results for single molecules and thin films. The properties of the two differ and the aggregates might be the missing link. My goal: to find just that.

In Groningen, besides studying chemistry, I have been boardmember in both the student society "De Chemische Binding" (the chemical bond) and the facultyboard. I also was chairman of a committee organizing the ONCS (Open Dutch Chemistry Sportingdays), a two-day sporting event for 425 chemistry students.
