Terahertz setup
Specifications
Seed for generating and detecting terahertz (THz) pulses
- Wavelength: 800 nm
- Pulse energy: 180 μJ
- Repetition rate: 1 kHz
- Pulse duration: 150 fs
THz pulse characteristics
- Duration: approx. 2 ps
- Spectral content: 0.2 – 2.5 THz
Available excitation sources
- Fundamental 800 nm beam: 600 μJ/pulse
- Second harmonic, 400 nm, up to 100 μJ/pulse
- Third harmonic, 266 nm, up to 15 μJ/pulse
- Parametric amplifier TOPAS, tunable from 2500 nm down to 240 nm, pulse energy depends on the wavelength (typically 1 – 80 μJ/pulse)
- Refer to the Millenia pump-probe setup for more details.
Further features
- The THz setup is enclosed in a box which can be purged with dry nitrogen to prevent water-vapor absorption of the THz beam.
- The excitation beam and the THz beam hit the sample at the same angle.
- Ellipsoidal mirrors are used to focus the THz radiation.
