Diversity of coherences and origin of electronic transitions of supermolecular nanoring

Overview

Structure of porphyrin nanoring.

After applying electronic two-dimensional spectroscopy technique on six-porphyrin nanorings with an inner template we could clearly observe and analyse the coexistence of electronic, vibrational and mixed coherences in a single system. Analysis of quantum coherences untangled the energy level structure of the excited states and their cooperativity. Such coherent quantum properties of a supermolecular system were reported for the first time, but should be general for molecular aggregates.
