In our department we use a broad set of theoretical tools to describe the various optical experiments carried out in our labs. The tools range from relatively simple kinetic simulations to sophisticated quantum chemistry calculations and nonlinear spectroscopy simulations. With today's computing powers a desktop computer is often sufficient, however, now and then we have to access more powerful machines in university or national computer centers.
