Work planning and safety

General Instructions

Work in the chemistry center and our division carries certain risks. To mitigate these risks a number of procedures have been introduced by the work authorities and your employer, the university.

For anybody working in the chemistry center these include:

Reading and acknowledging the general safety rules of the chemistry center to found
here: https://www.kc.lu.se/english/employee/general-safety-regulations/

If you will only be working in offices and not in any of the labs then you need to

  1. familiarize yourself with the general safe regulations above and fill out this form Safety Declaration
  2. Put your "In case of emergency" information into the folder (currently located in the seminar room "Resonance")

If you will perform any active work in the labs you need to get additional training for each lab:

Laser laboratories

Chemistry laboratories

X-ray Installations (at Chemical Physics)

Workshop: Discuss any new work with Ivan or Jens.

Accidents and "Near Misses" (incidents that could have gone wrong)

We all are obligated to report all incidents at work and on the way to and from work.

This includes: All accidents that led to personal injuries. This includes literally everything. As a practical guide: a small cut on a paper in the office could be counted as a bagatelle, the same cut in the lab should be reported. The report goes fast and forces us to have a look in our procedures. A cut on a piece of glass e.g. could result in consequences due to poisoneous compounds, but should raise the question why do we have broken glass in the lab.

Important: This reporting duty includes something that is called "near miss" = incidents. So something that could have gone wrong if it would have been to lucky circumstance.

Please report any near misses that happen to you or that you observe. These reports help us to become better. The reports are done by simply filling in this online form: https://app.iasystemet.se/Authentication/LoginSSO/lundsuniversitet

In case of any injury or a near miss here is the chemistry center website with information:
